Occupational asthma has the greatest prevalence of any work-related pulmonary disease in industrialised countries.

It accounts for a significant proportion of asthma in the general adult population. (5-15%)

Any adult who develops asthma should have the possibility of a work-related cause explored.

There are many known causes of occupational asthma and so a good occupational history must be obtained.

This clinical framework contains information on the causes of asthma, features of a good history, types of investigations and a suggested management schema.
